Vueling confirms and boosts its Florence commitment: announcement of new route for the summer season 2015

The 14 direct connections already operative in the summer of 2014 will be joined by flights for Olbia, while the number of destinations that can be reached by flights with connections via Barcelona is 78.

Florence, 15 January 2015 – Vueling continues with its programme of boosting and developing its presence at Florence airport, which becomes increasingly strategic both for domestic flights and for international connections. In fact, for the summer 2015 season not only has the airline belonging to the IAG group confirmed the 14 destinations of summer 2014, but has also announced one new route: Florence – Olbia (twice a week from 22 June to 11 September). The sale of tickets for the two new destinations was launched today.

The 14 direct connections already operative in the summer of 2014 will therefore be joined by one another, bringing the total number up to 15: a statistic that confirms Vueling as the leading airline active in Florence for the number of passengers. From Florence, where 2 Airbus A319 aircraft are based, it will therefore be possible to reach the 5 domestic destinations of Bari, Cagliari, Catania, Olbia and Palermo by direct flights, and again by direct flights the 10 international destinations of Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Ibiza, London, Madrid, Mikonos, Paris, Santorini and Spalato.

In addition there are a total of 78 destinations that can be reached from Florence by flights connecting via Barcelona, offering customers the chance to fly next summer to the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Andalusia, Galizia and Northern Spain or fascinating cities such as Lisbon. For these flights there is just one check-in for both legs and the baggage is collected directly at the final destination airport.

As Alex Cruz, CEO of Vueling stresses: “Florence airport continues to be of primary importance for Vueling, which in March 2013 opened an operating base here, the second in Italy after the Rome Fiumicino airport. The new routes for the summer of 2015 confirm our commitment to travellers choosing Florence as the point of departure for their summer holidays.”

Marco Carrai, President of AdF, states: “One year ago Vueling declared its wish to become the first airline company in Florence; now we can affirm that they have reached their goal. We are proud to be part of this goal and we are glad that the growth of Vueling is going as well as the general growth of the other airline companies operating in Florence. This is the prove of the potential of the Vespucci Airport."

Vittorio Fanti, CEO of AdF, maintains:” The Vueling interest in Florence airport is the acknowledgement to all the efforts and the Investments that AdF implemented in order to improve our customer service and to ensure punctual transit times."
